Udaan Newsletter

Dear Readers, as promised in our newsletter published in the fall of 2024, we are happy to come up with the 1st version of 2025. Though we are an NGO based in Kampala focusing on supporting fellow Ugandans, our name Udaan is derived from an Asian context signifying taking wings to scale greater heights.

Our pearl of Africa, Uganda under the seasoned leadership of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni continues to thrive economically by successful implementation of Parish Development Model - a unique economic program aimed at poverty alleviation.

We are set to commemorate our anniversary in March 2025 and true to our name, we have started spreading our wings to the higher trajectory. Team Udaan has successfully delivered by undertaking a slew of social welfare initiatives.

Our Current Activities

"Cleanliness is godliness."

We don't know if Cleanliness is Godliness or Godliness is cleanliness but what is certain is clean and hygienic environment is pre-requisite particularly when threatened by new pandemic such as Covid and other health challenges.

Cleanliness drives were organized around the slums of Naguru, drawing participation from native Ugandans as well as expatriates thus generating the spirit of togetherness for a common social cause. The cleanliness drives have been highly welcomed by the masses for improving general hygiene.

"Building of school Toilets."

We may not know whether education comes before sanitation or vice versa, but what is certain is that clean and safe sanitation facilities are essential—especially in schools, where the health and dignity of students must be protected.

Ongoing toilet construction projects have been launched in schools around the Naguru area, involving both local Ugandans and expatriates. These efforts have fostered a spirit of unity around a shared goal—improving hygiene and learning conditions for children. The initiative has been warmly received by the community, who recognize its impact on student health and well-being.

"Education Program."

Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and building stronger communities.

Through our education program, we are currently supporting 8 children in the Naguru area with school fees, scholastic materials, and mentorship. This effort is giving these children a real chance to learn, grow, and create a better future for themselves and their families.
